Family Child Care in a Home Setting.

Welcome to Port's Puddle Ducks Family daycare in Port Alberni. My name is Anthea Finlayson. In October 2009, my husband Chris and I along with our three children, Calvin, and the twins Lily & Jessica, dropped everything to move to Port Alberni, having had enough of life in the big City of Surrey. Wanting more elbow room for our growing children and dog, and feeling constrained by strata living we thought it was time to spread our wings and purchase a house. Having grown up in Surrey when it was still rural, Port Alberni not only fit the bill financially for such a purchase, but also would give us an opportunity to provide our family with the active lifestyle we desired and remember from our own childhood.

After the twins were born, we found that it was going to be a financial burden for me to return to the work force in the same capacity as previously. While home with the kids, and still wanting a way to help out financially, I took on a girlfriends two children full time when she returned from her maternity leave. This proved to be a wise decision and sent me down the path I have since chosen as a full time child care provider.

I have now been providing quality care for children and their families for the last nine years in my home along side raising my own children. This has proven to be both a rewarding and growing experience for me and my family.

We endeavor to provide a safe and caring home like environment where all children present may learn through play with clear boundaries on appropriate behavior and personal wellness. Guiding children with gentle consistency, while encouraging their natural curiosity has proven effective, and is my method for redirection and correction of misbehaviors.

I have a strong belief in providing a balanced active lifestyle along with healthy eating habits and rest. Therefore at Port’s Puddle Ducks your children will not be taxied around in a vehicle, but will walk to and from all destinations. Rain or Shine we will be out there enjoying the getting there.
